Indore has set up a new model of recycling from cold drinks, water, syrup, oil and other types of plastic bottles (pet bottles) which were not even taken by scrap dealers and people used to throw them here and there. These bottles are not only being recycled by the industrialists of Saver Road, Indore, but a new industry has started from it. Plastic granules are prepared by recycling these bottles.
Cloth, filament, sheet, staple fiber are being made from these grains again along with the bottles. This type of reprocessing used to happen only in Europe earlier.The industrialists of Indore are taking the Waste to Wealth model of the Municipal Corporation to the next level. The industry here has opened new doors of industry by recycling even single use plastic bottles. Industrialists of Indore have also started recycling of cold drinks, water, syrup, oil and other types of plastic bottles, which are technically called pet bottles. This scrap plastic, which was thrown like garbage, is now being sold at the rate of 30 to 40 rupees per kg.
Nepra Company has installed 12 types of dry waste sorting plant at the trenching ground of Indore. Due to this, the Indore Municipal Corporation earns an annual income of 1.5 crores. Traders of Indore are buying pet bottles from this plant. With this, the next chain of plastic process has started.
This is how the 7 stage journey from bottles to grains is decided
Amit Tibdewal and Harsh Ranawat, director of the recycling factory on Sanwer Road, told that the factory is recycling 30 tonnes of waste plastic a day. Recycling of 30% pet bottles is mandatory in Europe, there is no rule in India
Industrialists told that all companies in Europe have to use 30% recycled grains along with virgin plastic grains in making pet bottles. There is no such rule in India yet. This rule needs to be made in India as well.
Chairs and agriculture useful pipes are also being made
These industrialists have started making plastic granules in 5 stages from single use plastic polythene like foil and scrap. Agricultural useful pipes, black raincoats, chairs, pots, baskets and other things are being made from it.
